“Documenting Drama” is a product of Media Initiatives’ Center It is implemented by journalists from Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh).

On 12 December, 2022 Artsakh was blockaded due to the deployment of Azerbaijani military checkpoints and the inactivity of Russian peacekeepers. The blockade lasted 9 months and 12 days.

About 130,000 population of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) remained without basic health services. According to official data, 20.000 elderly people, 9.000 people with disabilities, and 2.000 pregnant women lived in Artsakh.

On September 19, 2023 at 13:00 Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack against Artsakh, targeting cities and civilians by artillery fire. The next day, on September 20, a ceasefire decision was made, which was followed by the depopulation of Nagorno Karabakh.

The special project “The Last 70.000 Meters: What Does the Road Tell Us?” presents the stories of forced displacement of Artsakh within “Documenting Drama” program.
